Collaborative Project with Kyle Friedman for Daffydd Hughes' Sound Design Class at Ryerson University.
Untitled 9 (Hljóðhönnun) is an interactive video installation inspired by the introduction of sound into video and media arts. Since the advent of the music video in the late nineteenth century, music videos have been used as vehicles for promoting ideas and products associated with the music in question, stripping sound of its ownership over itself in a society easily seduced by moving images. This disjointed representation of a commonly understood art form creates tension between the viewer and the work, as embodied and encoded sounds (otherwise known as music and language) are pieced together by individuals immersing themselves in a particular visual language.
